The sculpture is made from a fragment of an X-31 missile, shot down over Kyiv in May 2022 during a massive rocket bombardment. From this piece of deadly weaponry, the artists created the image of the Madonna with Child — a symbol of hope, rebirth, and the triumph of life over destruction. The Madonna’s face features clear, expressive traits, exuding calm with a subtle  hint of a smile. She is depicted without the traditional veil — her hair, cast and shaped by hand, lends the figure an earthly femininity. The Madonna’s clothing is the unchanged fragment of the missile. The craftsmen utilized its natural lines, transforming the cold metal into a stylized dress. The face and hands are crafted from bronze through sculpting, casting, and shaping. The child in the Madonna’s arms is also cast from bronze. Its right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing or instruction. The expression on its face mirrors that of the Madonna — the same calm, almost joyful serenity.

This sculpture serves as a reminder of the strength of life, which always regenerates, even after the darkest of times.
