The sculpture, created from shells of various calibers, is a poignant reflection of events that have become commonplace for us: enemy shells hitting residential buildings, destroying the lives of innocent people. The author based it on a brass tank shell. This work is not just a sculpture; it is a testimony to the personal history of the artist, whose niece lives in the city of Borodyanka in the Kyiv region. Borodyanka was occupied by Russian forces and suffered destruction during the shelling by the occupiers. Enemy shells hit the house of V. Baliberdin’s niece, destroying the adjacent entrance, which collapsed, leaving a V-shaped void in the building. By making openings in it resembling windows and stylistically dividing them with horizontal lines, the artist created the image of a residential high-rise building. Three shells ‘stuck’ in it create the impression that time has stopped, leaving us uncertain about the consequences of this tragedy. The viewer’s imagination independently complements the image. The lines reproduced around the shells, like cracks that appeared as a result of shelling, add realism and depth to this composition.
